Definition image film / image video
“Image film” is the term most regularly used for films in the B2B area. An image film usually is longer than a commercial spot and lasts between 2 and 10 minutes. Platforms for image films are sales presentations, trade fairs, meetings with potential buyers, sometimes business magazines on TV, and more and more the internet. But only few films really match the meaning of the term: A film for creating and conveying an image. Many productions are made for the presentation of products or services and so the main emphasis is sales promotion and not the creation of an image. Because a lot of different productions are summarized in one term, the definition is very difficult.
The real image film has many similarities with the commercial spot, but it is not subject to its length restrictions, since no broadcasting times have to be booked.
Because classical image films do not have to communicate “boring” facts, they can be very creative. Emotional presentations of the application, a film in the style of commercial spots or music clips — the possibilities are wide ranged. The majority of these spots are high-priced, because the production resembles motion films or commercial spots rather than industry-films.
A more common category is the company presentation, also called corporate film, company film, or industry film. These films aim at familiarizing the audience to the enterprise. Typical contents are the development of the company and its history, structure, branches, products or services, support, quality or the illustration of the application. The corporate film has a length between 3 and 12 minutes, depending on the enterprise and the application field.
Image film is a generic term for very different kinds of films, but is also the most spread term for all kinds of industry films.
