Non-linear editing systems for video productions

Eine Grafik, die verschiedene Stränge und Möglichkeiten diese zu verbinden, aufweist.

For a non-linear editing the footage is digitalized and saved on hard disc. Now it is worked on with a software. After editing it is possible to record it on DVD and Blu-ray, or to convert it to different file formats.

The main advantage of non-linear editing is that there are basically unlimited possibilities to process and manipulate the footage. However, because of the sheer volume of data, the whole process is time-consuming and very powerful computers with specialized hardware is required. The speed of the hard disc is also decisive: Normal USB2 hard discs are to slow to show the footage in real time.
